A well-established and prestigious care home in Portsmouth has been sold to an existing care operator, advised by Redwoods Dowling Kerr.
East Cosham House was purchased by Patricia Drabble in 1996 and provides individualised personal care to high standards, allowing the business to enjoy strong occupancy levels.
The house is registered for 24 residents aged 65 years and over and specialises in dementia and mental health care. The accommodation comprises of 18 single rooms and three double rooms.
East Cosham House prides itself on the safe and comfortable environment the carers create for their residents. This is reflected in the most recent rating of “Good” in its latest CQC report.
There is a robust organisational structure in place consisting of a senior management team with over 55 years of combined experience.
The management team are supported by well-trained, dedicated and experienced carers who deliver a client-focused service. The business benefits from a healthy mix of private and regular referral clients along with recommendations from local authority.
Having built up the business for several years, Patricia decided to market East Cosham House for sale as she wished to retire, and she instructed Redwoods Dowling Kerr in the sale.
Using our industry-leading experience and our bespoke marketing strategies, the business generated substantial levels of interest and received 10 viewings and was eventually sold to AKM Care, an existing care operator with over 10 years’ experience in the sector.
It’s Director, Bina Maistry, purchased East Cosham House as she is looking to diversify into elderly care. Its high occupancy levels, strong management team, and good reputation in the local area is what attracted Bina to the opportunity.
Upon completion of the sale, Patricia Drabble said: “I have recently completed the sale of my care home and have been very satisfied with the professional service I received from Redwoods Dowling Kerr.
“My point of contact was Sam Fazackerley and he was very informative and supportive. He would always respond promptly and kept me fully up to date with all matters. I felt he genuinely cared about achieving a good outcome.
“Invariably there were hurdles to overcome during the process and Sam always sought positive ways to work through any problems as they arose.
“I would have no hesitation in recommending Redwoods to anyone considering selling their care home.”
Lead Negotiator Sam Fazackerley said: “I am ecstatic to announce the sale of East Cosham House. Trisha has worked tirelessly for many, many years, so I am happy that she will now be able to step away from the business and enjoy her well-deserved and stress-free retirement.”
