Redwoods Dowling Kerr are delighted to announce the sale of Charlton Nursery Limited.
Charlton Nursery Limited is a group of two stunning nurseries in Bristol with a combined capacity for 179 children.
Charlton was established back in 2004 with the opening of its first setting in Wraxall. Charlton purchased a second setting in 2010 in Flax Bourton. Prior to the company’s lease coming to an end in Wraxall, Charlton was approached by Imperial Tobacco Plc to establish a nursery setting for them. The two settings are located in Bristol and North Somerset, approximately 5 miles from each other, and are both rated Good by Ofsted.
The Flax Bourton nursery is set in a spacious modernised Georgian property. It sits within its own grounds in the picturesque village with a capacity for up to 101 children.
The Imperial nursery is an architecturally designed purpose-built building in a modern space on Winterstoke Road in Bristol, next to the Imperial Tobacco headquarters, with a capacity for up to 78 children.
The owners approached RDK to sell the group having spoken to RDK’s Director of Childcare, Jenna Caldwell, over a number of years. They opted for the highly confidential Corporate Sales Process and decided to sell to Bright Stars Nursery Group.
The sale was expertly led by Deputy Manager Sarah Ellison, with Jenna overseeing the transaction from start to finish.
The purchase of Charlton takes Bright Stars to 105 childcare settings throughout the UK.
Ben and Ollie Nott, former owners of Charlton said: “Charlton has been a part of our family’s way of life for close to 20 years. Our beloved Mother created a nurturing environment where children are given the freedom to develop in their own unique way. Her approach of, ‘Happy staff make happy children make happy parents’ always remained true.
We would like to take the chance to thank staff, parents and children for making Charlton the wonderful place it is today.
We know that we are leaving the Company in excellent hands in Bright Stars and look forward to seeing what the future holds for Charlton. Many thanks to all those involved in helping Charlton take this next step in its development.”
Kirsty Ibbott, M&A Director, Bright Stars said: “We are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to Charlton Nurseries as they join the family of Bright Starts Nursery Group. We appreciate the remarkable standing that these nurseries hold, and we are fully committed to maintaining their tradition of outstanding care and education. We look forward to collaborating with the dedicated staff, devoted parents, and enthusiastic children as we embark on this exciting journey together of delivering the utmost quality early years education and unwavering support to families in Bristol.”
RDK Deputy Manager Sarah Ellison stated: “It has been a pleasure to work for the family on the sale of their business. I am confident Charlton Nurseries will be a great addition to Bright Stars and I wish our clients and Bright Stars all the best for the future.”
RDK’s Q1 pipelines are at a record level. RDK forecast deals to complete throughout the upcoming months, as business owners expedite their exit plans in sight of an upcoming election later this year.
