Redwoods Dowling Kerr advise the sale of a well-respected children’s nursery

Redwoods Dowling Kerr is delighted to announce the sale of Little Learners, an established children’s nursery based in Ashford, Kent.

The pre-school was founded in 2004 by John and Cheryl Martin and a great deal of time, effort and money has been spent on the start-up company, which presented a superb opportunity for any existing operator to purchase an established business which offered significant growth potential under new ownership.

Little Learners operates from a deceptively spacious single storey de-mountable building within the grounds of a primary school. Due to its excellent reputation since its inception, achieving an Ofsted rating of ‘Outstanding’ in 2018, the business is very much part of the local community, with most of the children who attend the nursery located within walking distance or live in the surrounding villages. Little Learners is registered for 35 children aged between two and five, and it has a successful breakfast and after school club.

There are a number of principle classrooms which have a light and airy feel and allow free flow when needed. The classrooms are split into age groups and have an abundance of age appropriate play equipment which is also presented in good condition. The nursery has a fully enclosed garden with safety surface and an undercover area allowing outdoor play all year round.

Having taken the difficult decision to place their business on the market due to retirement plans, John and Cheryl contacted Redwoods Dowling Kerr to advise in the sale of Little Learners.

After a comprehensive marketing campaign that garnered three offers, the nursery was sold to an existing operator, who purchased Little Learners to continue its proven success and use their knowledge to enhance the business.

Childcare Sales Negotiator, Kim Emsley, said: “I could not be happier for John and Cheryl. They have been an absolute pleasure to deal with throughout. Very efficient, always happy to speak, and of course, extremely prompt with providing any information required.

“The buyer is very knowledgeable, and I have no doubt she will do great things with regards to Little Learners. I wish her every success moving forward.

I would also like to wish John and Cheryl the best of luck for the future. I will miss speaking with them.”

The Vendors were full of praise for Redwoods Dowling Kerr team members, Kim and Sarah Ellison, Senior Childcare Sales Negotiator, for their excellent service.

They said: “Once on the market the level of engagement was first-class.  We had interested parties introduced to us to view the business almost immediately.

“The level of service received from Kim and Sarah was outstanding from the outset.  There was good communication and their support was brilliant.

“Once an offer was made Kim and Sarah guided us throughout the process very efficiently, constantly communicating between ourselves, the buyer and the legal representatives.

“The run up to completion was a difficult and uncertain time for us and we were elated when it eventually happened and felt this was shared by Kim and Sarah who had shared the ups and downs along the way with us.

“We would most certainly recommend Redwoods Dowling Kerr to anyone wishing to sell their business.”
