Domalo Childcare Acquired by Growing Nursery Group

This exemplary nursery group in Greater Manchester has been sold by Redwoods Dowling Kerr

Founded by the vendors John & Catherine Scott in 1994 after becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of high-quality childcare providers in the locality, Domalo Childcare quickly flourished into a reputable and well-regarded nursery group.

Through opening nurseries at strategically located sites across Oldham and Stockport, the nursery group proved itself to be greatly popular with parents from the surrounding areas, being highly accessible for parents seeking childcare within Greater Manchester.

Operating across a collection of 4 spacious and well-appointed properties, Domalo Childcare has the capacity to provide 288 children from 6 weeks to 11 years of age with a market-leading childcare provision, open 51 weeks a year. Each setting is appropriately divided to provide each age group with a stimulating assortment of activities, toys and learning resources. The staff at the nurseries are carefully recruited to cultivate and environment of inclusiveness and compassion, as demonstrated in the group’s latest Ofsted inspections where each setting achieved a ‘Good’ rating in every category.

Looking to retire, the couple made the difficult decision to put their nursery group onto the market and instructed Redwoods Dowling Kerr to facilitate the sale. After a comprehensive marketing campaign, a large amount of interest was garnered, attracting 7 viewings and 3 separate offers. Ultimately Domalo Childcare sold to a growing nursery group with a strong working relationship with Redwoods Dowling Kerr, historically acquiring 9 nursery settings through the service.

The vendor Commented;

“We have enjoyed building this small chain of nurseries over the last 26 years and are proud of the reputation we have acquired locally.

We now feel it is time to let go and allow new owners the chance to further enhance the business.

We are pleased that Sarah at RDK has found a suitable buyer and has progressed the sale to a successful conclusion despite the global pandemic.

We are happy to recommend Sarah and the RDK team to prospective sellers and purchasers’

Lead Negotiator Sarah Ellison commented;

“It has been a pleasure working with Mr & Mrs Scott on the sale of their nursery group. The group was established in 1994 by our current sellers and has grown from strength to strength over the 26 years of ownership. We had a number of viewing along with 2 other offers, but the seller felt that the buyer who has a growing nursery portfolio within the Northwest, was a perfect match. The sale had it many ups and downs including continuing through COVID, but through all the hard work both the buyer and the seller have come to a successful completion. I would like to wish both Mr & Mrs Scott all the best for the future and it was fantastic to work with the buyer again to secure their 13th setting via Redwoods Dowling Kerr.”
