Julie Blackburn Home Care Is Acquired by an Existing Operator

Established by the previous owner in 2006, Julie Blackburn founded Julie Blackburn Home Care after recognising the need for high quality domiciliary care in the locality. Offering a wide range of care to those looking to remain independent within their own home, the agency decided to cover the areas of Flamborough, Bempton, Burton Agnes, Haisthrope and Bridlington, the town in which the company resides.

Over the course of 15 years, Julie Blackburn Home Care established an enviable reputation amongst its clientele, enjoying regular referrals and recommendations. The business provides care to a mixture of NHS, local authority and private clients, equating to circa 40 service users and 275 hours of high-quality home care per week.

Assisting the vendor to deliver premier domiciliary care is a compliment of full time and part time staff members, all of whom undergo a CRB check and receive extensive training to effectively care for dementia, learning and physical disabilities, mental health, end of life care, companionship, meal preparation and medication dispensing. With credit to the high standards maintained throughout the agency, the service received a ‘Good’ rating in its latest CQC inspection.

However, seeking retirement the vendor decided now was the time to place her business on the market; recognising Redwoods Dowling Kerr as a market leading brokerage in the UK healthcare market, we were formally instructed to facilitate the sale. Following a comprehensive marketing campaign, the business garnered the interest of and ultimately sold to an existing market operator who was seeking to expand their business portfolio within the area.

Julie Blackburn commented on the sale;

I’d like to pass on my sincere gratitude to Redwoods Dowling Kerr and Marc Holmes. I was stunned to receive a cash offer for my domiciliary care agency during the UK coronavirus lockdown.

I had assumed that any chance of a sale would have been put on hold until the end of year. However, an offer was made, and we completed six weeks later.

Marc was always available to guide me through the process and the service was 5 stars.

Lead Negotiator Marc Holmes commented;

“The sale of this business was the perfect combination of matching a motivated vendor with a motivated buyer. We were able to successfully negotiate an offer, agree terms and complete on the transaction during UK Lockdown. I wish both vendor and buyer the best of luck in the future.”
