Busy Bees acquires Scallywags, a Group of 2 Day Nurseries thanks to Redwoods Dowling Kerr

Redwoods Dowling Kerr is pleased to announce the successful sale of Scallywags Day Nursery in Cambridge.

This excellent and established group of 2 day nurseries provides comprehensive care from 3 months to 5-year olds in the Cambridge area, and has done for the past 20 years. The Westwick site is rated “Outstanding” and the Girton site is rated “Good” by Ofsted, as a result of the professional service and dedicated efforts of the experienced staff. Scallywags is open all year round, Monday to Friday, from 07:30 to 18:00.

Scallywags Day Nursery provides a broad, structured and balanced timetable for children. They present each child with fun and exciting ways to learn about the world in which they live. Their ethos is to provide fantastic childcare with plenty of outdoor opportunities. Scallywags are extremely proud of their reputation, talented team, the relationship they have with parents, and the wonderful children who spend the day with them.

The nursey was placed onto the market due to the owner’s wish to retire, drawing the curtains on an exceptional business venture and an incredible career. The nursery is now in the dependable hands of Busy Bees Holdings Limited, the largest UK nursery provider. The vibrant new ownership wishes to continue the excellent legacy and reputation of this favoured nursery setting.

The Vendor of Scallywags, Mr & Mrs Bradley commented on the sale;

“We would like to thank both Jenna and Sarah from Redwoods Dowling Kerr for all their efforts in reaching this sale.  It has been an absolute pleasure working with you, and Ian & I have been delighted with your service and professionalism, keeping us well informed at each stage.  We would definitely recommend you to others!”

Chief Academic Officer and co-founder of Busy Bees, Marg Randles OBE, said;

“We’re delighted to welcome Scallywags to the Busy Bees family. The settings are truly remarkable environments for children, and we look forward to working with their wonderful team to continue providing outstanding outcomes for children.”

Lead Negotiator Sarah Ellison commented;

“It has been a pleasure working with Ian & Alison to assist them to their well-deserved retirement. I wish Busy Bee’s all the best with their new acquisitions; these nurseries will be a great addition to their portfolio”.
